How to find a men's group: ignore the poster and ask four things. Who holds the room, whether one face is the product, whether men speak from their own life, and what exists after you go home. A men's group can be a brotherhood. It can also be a funnel.
What to look for
- First person. Men speak about themselves, not about their partner's faults as the main event.
- Witness, not advice. Nobody is paid, in status or money, to fix the man across from him.
- Confidentiality that is said out loud.
- More than one man accountable for the container. No gurus.
- A way to continue: a monthly men's circle, not a single peak you are meant to miss.
What to walk away from
Walk away from a room that needs you small so a leader can be large. Walk away from humiliation sold as initiation. Walk away from politics, pickup, or a war on women wearing the word brotherhood. Men's work is not the manosphere with a candle. It is also not men's coaching dressed up as friendship, and it is not therapy.
