What is initiation for men today?
Initiation for men today is the passage most men were not given: a room of men who will not look away, a truth said out loud, and a life that has to be lived after the fire goes out. It is not a secret society. It is not a breakdown booked in advance.
What got skipped
School, work, and a mortgage will hand a man responsibility without ever asking who he is when the performance stops. The body keeps the bill. Anger, distance, the same fight, a father he swore he would not become. Ancestral work for men is one way that bill gets read. Initiation is the choice not to pass the unread bill on.
What we will not call initiation
- Hazing, or pain used as proof.
- A demanded collapse so the weekend feels successful.
- One face on a poster, and a room trained to obey him.
- A new name and no change on Monday.
The fire does not make the man. The man who stays after the fire does.

A men's circle is the shorter door: first person, no advice, every month. Foundational Training holds the weeks. The Call of the Ancestors is 25–29 November 2026 at Monte Velho, Costa Vicentina. - Do I need a guru to be initiated?
